ISAAC is a free, public
middle school option for students in southeastern Connecticut
districts. Instead of a child's middle school in the home district, he
or she could attend ISAAC instead at no cost. Simply fill out the
application to be submitted into a lottery. Students will then be
randomly chosen to attend ISAAC. Students not chosen will be put onto a
waiting list. Quite often, many students from the waiting list are also
accepted before the school year begins.
ISAAC Open House
Parents,
Caregivers AND their 5th grade students from our 12 participating
districts are invited to join us at an ISAAC Open House to meet members
of our school community. Our staff and students will share our exciting
academic program, as well
as our social curriculum. In case of bad weather, please call 447-1003,
ext. 100, before coming.
Open House Dates
2011
Come to one of
our open houses to receive an overview of the academic program, have a
student-led tour of the school, and meet some of our students, teachers
and administrators. Check back for our Open House schedule beginning in
January, 2011.
If you would
like a
tour of the school, please call the school @ 860-447-1003, ext. 0.
The Lottery
ALL
students entering grades 6-8 are eligible to come to
ISAAC for free. However, ISAAC only has 180 slots available for all
three grades. Current students who are returning are guaranteed to keep
their slot, and siblings of current students would also be
guaranteed a slot. All new applicants would be put into a LOTTERY and
names are randomly selected for all available seats. ISAAC does not
select students based on any criteria (e.g., grades, activities,
etc.)-- becoming a student at ISAAC is a matter of applying and having
your name randomly selected!
The lottery for the 2010 -
2011 school year has been completed. The lottery for the 2011 - 2012
school year will take place in April 2010. Exact date TBD.
Waiting List
Students
not selected during the initial lottery are placed on a waiting list.
Similar to the lottery, each name is randomly selected and placed on
the waiting list in that order. Therefore, if a slot becomes available,
the first person on the waiting list will be accepted to attend ISAAC.
