Project Oceanology will engage 7th graders in learning connected to the Next Generation Science Standards through hands-on lessons in the classroom and through a variety of field experiences. Students will spend time aboard our research vessels literally and figuratively getting their hands wet as they investigate the living and non-living components of Long Island Sound, while participating in our flagship environmental monitoring program. Students will investigate local ecosystems along the shoreline, measure water quality and examine species diversity. We work closely with science teachers to design programs that amplify the lessons that are being taught in the classroom by providing students the opportunity to investigate and connect with life outside the classroom.
